West Indies & Ann's Birthday

We were off to St. Croix again this year for the West Indies Croquet Championships.

It was a great visit to see the "Beer Drinking Pigs" and play the finals on Sunday on an extremely slow court in a continuing rain. Soggy might be a better description.

Touring the island and having an official Police escort to the Domino Club was definitely a unique experience. The "Commish" and I managed to hold on until the Finals when a premature peg out by an unknown player left me with no partner. Once again a "Runner Up"

Then it was off to Miami to celebrate Ann's Birthday with a whirlwind tour of Miami, South Beach, Miami Springs, Hialeah, Coral Gables, Vizcaya (Deerings estate & gardens). Wednesday we went to Hallandale and Hollywood Beach for luncheon with Audrey and then jetted back home, exhausted.

Labor Day Weekend 2011

Over Labor Day weekend the Hoys made a whirlwind tour of Greenwich, CT where we visited with Bill & Marjorie Campbell, Newport, RI, and NYC with Kiley Jones. Short tour of Greenwich downtown Saturday afternoon.

Dinner at the Belle Haven club Saturday night. CRASHED (really) at the Campbells' fabulous estate Saturday night and Sunday night.

Early Sunday we were off to Newport, RI to tour the city, including a guided tour of Chateau Sur Mer (38000 square feet of splendor) with croquet on the grounds.

Monday morning played some croquet with the Campbells, Bill and Marjorie. Monday afternoon rode into NYC with NYPD Officer Kiley Jones.
Had an absolutely fabulous time with Kiley as GUIDE EXTRAORDINAIRE. Special access to Ground Zero courtesy of Kiley and a Port Authority Police Officer who gave us access inside the fences. A VERY emotional time.

We visited Chinatown and other places. Had lunch at Sylvia's Queen of Soul Food restaurant in Harlem. The best we've ever had including "Sweet Tea" and cornbread.

Stopped by in New Rochelle for a brief visit with Diana Millay, Kiley's sweet mother. Flew away Tuesday, back to Griffin.

I'm getting even slower about updating - but here are some shots from our trip to Panama City Beach in May. Had a great time.
